Everyone here knows these two rocks that rise like the other 1,969 islands in Halong Bay. These two rocks are called "The Fighting Chickens"(not all chickens fight...only roosters!). Old folk lore declares that these islands were the embodiment of the dragons that rose out of the sea to defend the land from the Japanese invasion in ancient times. The dragons transforming into these magnificent islands, protected this land's fighting ships and made entry into the bay treacherous for invaders.
